Founded in 2024, the Treyson Racin Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to empowering disabled people by providing them with free skills training and an accessible workplace.
Racing and powersports have always been my whole world. In 2009 just after completing mechanics school my world shifted when we welcomed my son, Treyson, into the world. However Treyson passed away 8 days later. The following spring when I followed my dream of opening a powersports shop, I named it in his memory.
Running the shop was like living a dream for me, as I was able to spend every day working and promoting a sport that I love. However, ten years later my world shifted again. In February of 2019, I was involved in a dirt bike accident out in California while on vacation with my family. The accident left me with 7 broken ribs, a shattered sternum, a punctured lung, a hyperextended neck, a broken back, and a Thoracic spinal cord injury causing complete paralysis from the chest down.
Much to the frustration of the nurses and doctors, I continued to work on my business, managing orders from the hospital rehab in California. I returned home in April and was back in my shop Monday morning. I still love what I do and am grateful to have this business, but ever since my accident, the amount of medical expenses, the time traveling to and from doctors, etc has been quite difficult. The shop has to be closed for all my medical appointments.
I have been fortunate to have this business to tweak and keep going forward. Being an independent business owner has allowed me to adapt my workspace and schedule to my being paralyzed. Others aren’t as fortunate. I 100% understand and respect that now. I see how difficult daily living with a disability is. I want to empower others with similar disabilities or hardships and give them a flexible and accessible space to work and build upon their dreams as I have.
The Treyson Racin' Foundation is committed to providing free training and support to individuals with disabilities. Whether the goal is to learn a marketable skill, gain independence or take up powersports for recreation Treyson Racin' will work with people, meet them where they're at and help them work towards their goals.
Through grants and donations, this foundation is able to supply free training customized to the individual.
